Guess what? This object turned out to be a penny! Somehow the
cat swallowed a penny and it passed from the stomach but got
only a short way down the small intestine when the intestinal muscles
went into a spasm and contracted around this object. Now it is an
obstruction and very dangerous. It's time for surgery!

You can see how important that second x-ray view is in
determining where an object is in the patient. This penny was
in no way associated with, or even near, the kidney.
