View X-rays (Radiographs) of Dogs and Cats

View X-rays of dogs and cats... Take a look at the images below and you will see exactly what the veterinarian sees nearly every day in practice. Radiology in Veterinary Medicine has been an indispensable tool in evaluating patients and the disorders that affect them. Bowel obstructions, bone fractures, dislocations, arthritis, cancer, foreign body problems in the stomach or intestines... all may require an x-ray to be taken before a diagnosis can be made.
To be accurate, it should be stated that the veterinarian takes a radiograph of a dog or cat... not an x-ray. X-rays are generated by an x-ray machine and travel through the patient and activate x-ray film. The resulting radiograph is then looked at and a determination is made if the image on the radiograph is normal or abnormal. Over the years it became popular for people to say that an "x-ray was taken" when in fact correct terminology would be that a radiograph was taken
